ITHS Gives Children a Free Course for Safer Internet Day in Serbia
At B92 Fund’s stand, all interested visitors will be able to provide their contact information and, with a couple of clicks on a tablet, become “candidates” in the game, as well as receive ITHS promotional items. The winner will get a chance to attend a course in English from a comfortable chair at home, thanks to our distance learning platform, which is designed to provide round-the-clock education support for all ages.
This event is one of the activities of celebrating the international Safer Internet Day, organized by B92 Fund and Save the Children organization, in cooperation with Internet Technology High School (ITHS), supported by Directorate for Digital Agenda, Safer Internet Center Serbia, along with Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The gathering will include an interactive workshop, inspired by the subject of global event - “Connect with Respect.” Children and their parents will have fun, compete and respect one another in popular origami frog-game, as well as other traditional and electronic children’s games, and receive a great deal of useful information on safe Internet use along the way. The winner in our high school’s contest will be able to directly experience safe e-learning through attending the English language course available on our online platform.
We have recently signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with B92 Foundation and organization Save the Children on the subject of “Child Safety on the Internet” and started working on this important project. Together, we will work on setting a distance learning online platform, which elementary school teachers will use in teaching the children how to use the Internet safely, recognize threats, as well as what tools they should use in order to prevent potential risks.
The international Safer Internet Day is now celebrated in more than 70 countries worldwide, across 6 continents. The initiative was started in 2004, within the European Union project called Safe Borders. In Serbia, this day has been celebrated since 2008; online child abuse is prosecuted by an office specializing in cyber crime, while Ministry of Internal Affairs successfully reacts in such cases.
