The most successful Winter School of Programming and Design – coDEsign2016

We shared IT knowledge with over 2,000 participants


The week of programming and design – coDEsign2016, organized by companies LINK group and Comtrade and the Information Technology School – ITS, was successfully held last week, February 1 through 5. Participants of all ages, but mostly high school students, had a unique opportunity to develop and advance their interest in IT, as well as learn a number useful things - completely free of charge.

Besides the lectures, the participants also attended interesting workshops, where they could acquire practical skills; interesting competitions; and, for anyone who could not reserve their place on time or could not attend the lectures, there was the option of Live stream.

The program, which was followed – in person or via Live stream – by over 2,000 participants, was raised to an even higher level through the presence of the best lecturers, as well as quality workshops, where what had been learned at the lectures could be put to practical use, Teacher’s Day workshops intended for high school teachers, as well as Junior’s Day workshops for children.


Opening ceremony followed by inspiring lectures


Winter school of programming and design, also recognized as a unique festival of programming and design, was officially opened by the director of Information Technology School – ITS, dr Bojan Ristić. He introduced the visitors to the program ahead of them, encouraged them in the choice they had made, and congratulated them on their interest in starting a career in IT, emphasizing that it involves the hottest professions of the present and the future.

The comprehensive assortment of lectures and the wide range of subjects gave everyone an opportunity to find something that attracts them the most. Some of the most interesting lectures dealt with the subjects of the conception and change of the size of computers through history, IT experts’ salaries, the importance of encrypted messages in IT, the use of mathematics and probability in everyday life situations… The participants learned about Data Science, the hottest professions for the 21st century, fighting cybercrime, cooperation of domestic experts with the CERN institute in Genoa, and many other things. 

The experts, teachers and successful entrepreneurs who shared their knowledge with the school’s attendants included ITS professors Velimir Dedić, Svetlana Jevremović, Zoran Grubišić and Vladimir Simović; web strategist, e-business, e-marketing and online PR consultant Dragan Varagić; Comtrade’s experienced software engineer Dragan Čerkez; Scrum Alliance certified Scrum Master and Scrum Product Owner Rade Radumilo, and many others.

The coDEsign2016 school also included useful workshops where the participants could learn how to program in C#, how to create and edit images in Photoshop, how to connect HTML and CSS files; they wrote their first iOS code, and learned to model in AutoCAD…


The end of an exciting and industrious week


The coDEsign week was completed with a great deal of success. All participants, no matter whether they attended the lectures in person or followed them via Live stream, had a wide range of topics to choose from and pick those that best match their interests. The best lecturers, who did not lack enthusiasm to add to their experience and knowledge, introduced the young participants into the IT world.



The participants enjoyed the lectures and workshops, had a good time together, and gained better insight into the world of IT and the most wanted professions of the future. We hope that many of them will go on to have successful careers in IT.
